How Hormones from Your Cycle Can Effect You

Ever wondered if you were losing your mind? or think something is wrong with you? I’ve definitely have those days where I feel great, super positive, in-tune with myself and my emotional state, feeling motivated and on top of the world- then BOOM… the next day I can feel unstable, exhausted, withdrawn, down or like an emotional mess.

While there are so many contributing factors these days affecting our emotional state (i.e. global pandemic, police brutality, systemic racism, political BS, being stuck at home), it is also important to stop to take a DEEPER LOOK at what’s going on "on the inside" and remember there are physiological factors that affect our emotional state. It’s not just about having a positive outlook or mindsets, there are also those crazy things called HORMONES at play! and from what I understand, they get crazier as you get older (yikes!)

I have to be honest, I hadn't paid much attention or taken much time to understand how hormones impacted how I felt- physically, mentally and emotionally. I used to dismiss their power UNTIL I got pregnant and then realized that HORMONES ARE REAL AF! My body was literally taken over by hormones and there was no question- the struggle is real. (Talk about serious emotional mood swings!)

What I’ve come to learn is that by taking time to learn more about your cycle can help you:
-better understand how your body/hormones work (specifically the rise and decline of hormones like estrogen and progesterone).
-learn how they affect not only your ‘mood’ or emotional state, but many other aspects of your overall health and wellness, including your energy level, metabolism, appetite, cognitive function, interest in socialization, sleep, skin health, etc.
-learn how to best operate “in flow” WITH (not against) your natural cycle and leverage that knowledge to your benefit
-better understand what your body needs at different times and utilize your diet, natural remedies like essential oils and supplements, rest and activity for better hormonal balance, productivity, motivation, creativity, and maintain your overall health and wellness.

I am no expert on this subject matter, but learning about my body has been validating, empowering and allows me to know when something isn’t right, advocate for my health, and stay more in tune with myself.

I created a few graphics (can you tell I'm a visual learner?) that I hope will help you better navigate the natural rhythm of your cycle. I’d love to learn more, what are ways/tips that help you through the different stages of your cycle?
